“Local Government Engineering Department has broken ground on a ৳45 crore road improvement project covering 28km of roads in Sarishabari upazila.”
The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) has begun work on a major road improvement project in Sarishabari upazila, targeting 28 kilometers of roads connecting 6 unions to the upazila headquarters.
Funded under the Annual Development Programme (ADP), the ৳45 crore project includes road widening, bituminous surfacing, construction of 3 bridges, and 15 culverts. Work is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Local Union Parishad chairmen expressed satisfaction, noting that the poor road conditions had long hampered agricultural product transportation from rural areas to district markets.
"When the monsoon comes, the roads become completely impassable," said one local farmer. "This project will change our lives."
